Watches & Wonders 2023
From March 27th until April 2nd, the annual event of Watches & Wonders displayed the latest and greatest in watchmaking innovation and design. This prestigious event took place in the magnificent Palexpo where 48 maisons, including iconic brands such as Patek Philippe, Cartier, TUDOR and TAG Heuer showcased their latest novelties. For the first time in history, Watches & Wonders opened its doors to the public, granting unprecedented access to the world of luxurious timepieces.
In September 2022, Rolex, Patek Philippe and Richemont founded the Watches & Wonders Geneva Foundation, dedicated to promoting watch-making excellence through digital and in-person events around the world. One of their first initiatives was showcased at this year's event, where the show expanded throughout the city of Geneva. Meet-and-greets in boutiques, specially commissioned artworks and rare pieces, late night openings, and DJ sets were just a few of the events on the schedule, providing an unparalleled experience for watch enthusiasts.
Throughout the week, the event was filled with highlights and exciting novelties from the world’s leading brands. From the sophisticated elegance of Cartier to the timeless craftsmanship of Patek Philippe, this year’s event was a celebration of the finest in horology. Introducing the latest addition to Patek Philippe's Grand Complications collection, the exquisite Grandmaster Chime Reference. A mixed-metal version of the legendary Grandmaster Chime that debuted in 2014 as a limited edition, this timepiece has since become a sought-after collector's item.
The Ref. 6300GR-001 has been crafted from a combination of white and rose gold, with two brown opaline dials and a hand-guillochéd “Clou de Paris” pattern on the side. Patek Philippe has a keen focus on he desires of contemporary woman and are predicting a growing demand for more Complications in women’s timepieces.
Meticulously crafted in rose gold with a mesmerizing blue-grey dial, this masterpiece showcases an inverted display that features the day at 3 o’clock, the month at 9 o’clock, and the moon phase at 12 o’clock. Notably, the watch is the first Aquanaut Luce model that does not feature any precious gems. The challenge for Cartier was to structure the watch and create perspective, accomplished with precision in its links to the mini case with its sixteen-faceted cut glass that accentuates the distinctive lines. The Clash [Un]limited is a luxurious and refined timepiece, available in diamond-paved yellow, rose, and white gold, as well as exceptional pieces enhanced by precious stones. Its faceted corners, bevelled dial, full and empty spaces and harmonious play of round and square elements create cohesive geometry.
TUDOR proudly unveils the newest Black Bay. The iconic diving watch, featuring a stunning burgundy bezel, represents the pinnacle of technical and aesthetic evolution. With a host of evolved design elements, including the revolutionary “T-fit” clasp, this model is Master Chronometer-certified by METAS, cementing its place as a true engineering marvel.
