Celtic & Irish Inspired Jewellery - St. Patricks Day 2022
As we are getting ready to celebrate St. Patricks Day for the first time in two years, we at Weir & Sons have selected our favourite Irish and Celtic inspired pieces to celebrate the festival.

For the first time in two years, Ireland is getting ready to celebrate St. Patricks Day, with what Failte Ireland has described as their biggest parade ever. Throughout the world people gather to celebrate the patron saint of Ireland with the famous Irish spirit. At Weir & Sons we have put together a collection of our favourite Irish and Celtic inspired pieces that will help celebrate the occasion in style.

According to legend St. Patrick famously taught Christianity to the people of Ireland using the shamrock, whose three leaves represent the Holy Trinity. These House of Lor earrings are crafted from 9ct white gold, with one individual 9ct rose gold shamrock. They are set with one genuine diamond for a touch of sparkle. The contemporary style of these earrings make these the perfect addition to your collection for St. Patricks day and all year round.

Green is the colour now synonymous with St Patrick’s Day and Irish pride. To keep up with this tradition we have chosen our favourite pieces set with emeralds and green tourmaline's.

Among the stories from the legend of Saint Patrick, the most striking tale is that of Saint Patrick driving all of the snakes out of Ireland. It is claimed that Saint Patrick was attacked by a group of snakes while in Ireland completing some missionary work. Serpents are a symbol of the devil in the bible. St. Patrick hushed all of the snakes he could into the sea, as a result he cleansed Ireland of evil.

The Trinity Knot is a Celtic symbol of love. Its three beautiful leaf-shaped interlinking lines create an eternal triangle form that cannot be broken. Throughout the years it has had many meanings but in modern Ireland, it is the most popular Celtic symbol to show love and devotion. It is also known as the ‘Lovers Knot’.

The Claddagh ring is another Celtic symbol of love, also of friendship and loyalty. The heart is the centre feature of the ring, it symbolises love. The crown traditionally symbolises royalty however in the case of a Claddagh ring it symbolises loyalty. The hands that hold the heart and the above crown represent friendship. ‘With these hands, I give you my heart, and I crown it with my love’.

The Celtic Tree of Life is a symbol of wisdom, strength and long life. In Celtic times, trees provided shelter, food and places to gather for the Celts. This design is worn for many reasons than just Celtic heritage. The tree is also associated with power, knowledge and wisdom. Throughout the years, there has been many recreations of this design in a more contemporary and modern style.

The History of Ireland collection by Solvar, incorporates 12 symbols on each piece which celebrate the most important eras of Irish history. They have been created with a contemporary design, making them stylish and comfortable to wear. The different symbols engraved into each piece represent everything from the Neolithic age with the Celtic Swirl, St. Patrick, the Famine, and ends with the Partition of Ireland.
